Crafting since the 80’s, with 70’s inspiration.
Spending half your childhood in your grandparents' home can certainly give you retro inspiration. The obnoxious floral couch, the Tupperware, and Corelle flower print plates. Even after moving around the country as a Navy kid, I couldn't get those warm feelings for floral and kitsch out of my soul.
As 2020 hit us all out of nowhere, I started sewing again. I had always been equally fascinated and angered by sewing machines. I always got halfway into a garment and threw my hands up. My business temporarily closing due to covid helped to set me straight with my machine. I dusted it off and vowed to make it work. I wrote and tested patterns over and over. I made masks for continued supporters then later started selling them.
I admired the washability and longevity of quilts. Yes, I still have and use the crochet blankets my Granny made in the '80s. Yes, I still knit blankets for my own house. Yes, I was still very stressed when the cat or the washing machine pulled a stitch loose from those blankets. Enter...quilts.
